In order to get the bonus round started you have to get at least 3 green lights anywhere on the reels. In this game the lights are the scatter and more than 3 triggers the bonus round. Anytime you get more than 2 lights on the screen, they randomly turn either red or green. If you get 2 green lights you get your money back, and if you get 3 green lights, your bonus round begins. See the pic below.
Sometimes you get 3 or even 4 lights but not all of them are green so nothing happens. It’s a bummer to see 4 lights come up, but 3 of them turn red. Like this…
But the good news is, these lights come so frequently that you don’t have to wait very long for them to come again. And eventually you will get three greens and move to the bonus round.
Before I explain the bonus round, let me just say that the race car driver is wild and doubles any wins he is a part of. You can tell if this game is going to pay or not by watching for race car drivers. If you are seeing them a lot, most likely you will hit something. If they are not coming up, you might want to try a different game. I’d say that 80% of the time I try this game I hit something pretty nice…
Other than the wild race car driver and the scatter lights, this is pretty much a standard video slot game. A lot of Bovada’s games have a random jackpot that can be hit randomly with any bet. As of the writing of this article, I have never hit one of those, but I have talked to other people that say they have, so I believe they do happen. In all honesty, I like this online casino better than my local casino because they payout more often. I have cashed way more from Bovada in the last couple years, than I ever did going to my local casino for 20 years. Plus they have more game selection than ever. In the past, online casino slot games were boring and 5 reel video slots were even hard to find, but now the variety and quality of games available at Bovada trumps what physical casinos offer. At last check, they had 120 different video slot games along with every table game imaginable.
Enough about Bovada for now, let’s get back to Green Light and its bonus game. When you hit the bonus game, you are taken to a screen like this where you pick a race car…
Once you pick your car, they race to find out how many spins you’ll get.
Here is the breakdown on how many spins you’ll get determined by your place in the race:
- 1st place – 25 free spins
- 2nd place – 20 free spins
- 3rd place – 15 free spins
- 4th place – 10 free spins
- 5th place – 5 free spins
If you were lucky enough to pick either the 1st or 2nd place cars, you’ll also get a second race. You don’t get to re-pick cars though, you are stuck with the one you picked already in your first race. Here is what each place pays in the 2nd bonus race:
- 1st place – I don’t know yet… probably 100x your bet
- 2nd place – 50x your starting bet
- 3rd place – 25x your starting bet
- 4th place – 10x your starting bet
- 5th place – 5x your starting bet
This bonus round can be re-triggered during your free spins and it does happen regularly. Some bonus rounds can last quite a while and rack up nice wins. Unfortunately this game is not available on instant play so you will have to download their casino software and install it, but it’s definitely worth doing!
I really enjoy playing these games and I rank Green Light right at the top of my list of favorite games to play. This game gets a 9 out of 10 for frequent payouts and exciting bonus rounds!
