It seems like an age since it was first revealed that The X-Files would be making a surprising return to our small screens. A tease here, an image of a smouldering Mulder there, and we really don’t know what to expect for when it does eventually air.
Well, after they released the first minute of the new series last week, the marketing machine at Fox is chugging along quite nicely, bringing us a brand new trailer in the process.
Considering it’s a show that revolves around mystery, it isn’t surprising that this new teaser is just as mysterious. A feeling of governmental paranoia pervades throughout with there being little in the way of story reveals. The chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson looks to be just as strong as ever and it certainly doesn’t seem to be half-assing anything to cash in on nostalgia, so here’s hoping it can live up to the hype.
From the video description:
“Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES is a thrilling, six-episode event series from creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI ASST. DIR. WALTER SKINNER, Mulder and Scully’s boss, who walks a fine line between loyalty to these investigators and accountability to his superiors. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.”
The new series begins on January 24th, 2016.
