Blogging often appears to be really fun. But that’s not always true.
Bloggers tend to indulge in so many online activities that they hardly get time to take rest. Nowadays, mobile phones and tablets keep us all hooked into the internet, and we never get a chance to enjoy the buffer zone between physical and digital life.
Productivity is not about working a lot; it’s about working efficiently. If you are one of those bloggers (like me) who loves blogging & staying ahead of the game by learning, practicing, researching, and writing, I’m sure you’ve experienced burnout.
For me, I would sometimes become so unmotivated that I would stay in bed for several days. It took me some time to realize what I was doing wrong, and after making some necessary changes, blogging became more fun and more fulfilling.
Bloggers usually forget the other work in their lives:
- Social activities
- Spending time outside (i.e. away from a computer)
These types of activities help us to become more creative, and ultimately more productive.
How To Get Rid Of Blogging Stress
From time to time, bloggers may suffer from writer’s block. They feel they have nothing left to say, and this unfortunate state will threaten their livelihood. This causes great distress.
When they feel stress, many bloggers turn to escapist activities like smoking and drinking. They fall victim to a lot of things that affect their health and well-being, all because their online work is too much to bear.
If you are struggling with blogging stress, here are a few tips to help you manage your daily and blogging lives.
1. Exercise regularly.
Bloggers often stay in one spot all day staring at a computer screen. Rarely do they get up and move.
Regular exercise helps in circulating blood and making the body systems (like the circulatory system, the respiratory system, the digestive system, etc.) stronger.
- Daily exercise will produce a less-stressed mind.
Going to the gym can become a part of your daily routine. This will encourage you to stay fit, stay healthy, and stay happy.
You can also try doing Yoga. Yoga helps make the body more flexible, and it helps you relax in stressful conditions. You will feel more energetic, happier, and more at peace.

2. Manage your time wisely.
Many blogging geeks work solely on inspiration, so when they feel inspired, they work. Sometimes they spend all day doing nothing, and then working until late at night, and then waking up at noon.
Not only is this bad for the body, it’s bad for the mind.
If there’s no stability in your schedule, your mind will become restless and succumb to stress.
Maintain a regular work schedule. Set a schedule and stick to it. Don’t procrastinate. You only have so much time in the day to accomplish the things you need to accomplish. Maintaining a discipline will help your mind stop worrying about when you’re going to actually start working.
I’d suggest going to bed early and waking up early. Most successful entrepreneurs tend to suggest this, and from my experience:
- “Early to bed, early to rise; makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”
3. Find a coffee shop or co-working space.
If you are living in a metro city, then you must have some coffee shops around. Even if you aren’t in a metro area, you probably are close to a coffee shop.
These coffee shops have an awesome environment (low disturbances, sofas, air conditioners, etc.), and they’re almost always equipped with lightning-fast internet connections.
You can also look into joining a co-working space. These are spaces designed for digital professionals (fast wifi, comfortable spaces, free drinks/snacks, and great networking opportunities). Do a Google search for co-working spaces and see if there are any nearby. They usually cost $10-$20 per day with discounts for longer term members.
Getting out of the home office every so often is a great way to keep your mind fresh and free of stress.
4. Watch TED talks or motivational videos.
I used to watch a lot of random stuff on YouTube, which hardly added anything to my life.
But lately, I’ve started watching TED talks & other inspiring videos that directly help me learn something new or get motivated.
One thing that I can tell you is:
5. Maintain your social life.
Instead of social networking from home, you should find physical time to interact with your family and friends.
Facebook and Twitter don’t count as “having a social life”. They are good to find friends, but in-person meetings with your online friends will help you get your mind out of the internet and into the real world.
Go and hang out with some friends. Go to a movie. Go to dinner. Go to a dance club. Go somewhere. Enjoy the social aspects of being human.
You can also share your blogging experiences with your friends. Doing this will drastically release your mental stress, and you will be mentally prepared for the coming work days.

6. Go play.
If you are a cricket, soccer, or basketball fan, instead of watching the live scores on your phone, go play them.
You can make this part of your daily exercise routine. Playing sports can also help you to maintain your social life because you are meeting with real people (not Twitter friends).
Playing Counter Strike and PubG is fun, but they aren’t sports.
Sports are physical games. These kinds of games help us in boosting our mental and physical levels. As mentioned above, the importance of exercise and outdoor games will keep your body healthy and fresh. And where there’s a healthy and fresh body, there’s a healthy and fresh mind.
If you don’t like sports, you can always try joining beginner leagues and engaging in informal games with friends. If you are really not into sports, then fine, skip the sports, but you still need to get regular exercise.
